Master Center for Addiction Medicine is seeking a part-time (minimum 15 hours) or full-time Billing Data Analytics Intern who wants to gain valuable hands-on experience with data analytics and project management at a medical practice. While experience is a bonus, this is an entry-level internship-- we are looking for candidates who have the right attitude and aptitude to jump in with both feet! If you have recently graduated or are making a career change into project management and/or data analytics (particularly for the healthcare field), this could be a great fit! The ideal candidate will possess drive, grit, and initiative. We are looking for someone who loves to improve systems and problem solve without a great deal of oversight. The Billing Data Analytics Intern reports directly to the Director of Finance and Revenue Cycle Management and will work collaboratively with individuals and teams on all programs and projects the organization undertakes as we continue to grow.

Master Center for Addiction Medicine is a private, outpatient addiction medicine treatment center headquartered in Glen Allen, Virginia. We have additional offices in Hampton, Gloucester, Chesterfield and are opening offices in other areas of Virginia. Our approach to addiction is comprehensive, evidence-based and individualized, drawing on every tool that has been proven effective: medical treatment, education, psychiatry, professional counseling, testing/monitoring and peer support services. DESCRIPTION: The Health Data Analytics Intern supports Master Center in carrying out projects that will support Master Center’s mission and annual goals. The Billing Data Analytics Intern reports to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Project Management. The Billing Data Analytics Intern organizes, manages, and plans complex projects with a data focus for the organization’s research, development, and strategic initiatives implementation efforts. The Billing Data Analytics Intern works with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Project Management, as well as executive management, senior management, and department leadership to plan and implement growth and strategic initiatives.
OBJECTIVES:
  • Manages current data visualization dashboards for Leadership and Department Managers and develops new dashboards as needed.
  • Produces Excel worksheets on utilization, revenue, and other key performance indicators.
  • Works closely with the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and EHR Specialist to export and integrate data with various software.
  • When working on new strategic initiatives, coordinates and analyzes project progress and, when necessary, adapts scope or timeline to achieve optimal results.
  • Achieves organizational goals while adhering to standards and best practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manages Microsoft PowerBi training and overview for new employees.
  • Updates and edits PowerBi users, permissions, source reports, data mapping, and development.
  • Runs weekly and monthly utilization and KPI reports.
  • Researches and develops workflow automations for greater operational efficiency.
  • Works closely with the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Project Management to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
  • Conducts cost analysis, estimates expected expenses, and maintains a budget for projects.
  • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk (including termination of the project if appropriate).
  • Acts as a liaison between departments, team members, and vendors or outside contractors.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Special Projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Trained and experienced with Microsoft PowerBi
  • Spreadsheet development experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, such as Computer Science, Business, Engineering, Data Analytics.
  • At least two years of related experience preferred.
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications highly desirable.

Job Type: Part-time or Full-time. Part-time must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours during business hours (Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5pm)

Location: Glen Allen, VA; travel to other offices required occasionally and is reimbursed at the IRS Standard mileage reimbursement rate (minus home office commute)

Salary: $16 to $18 per hour
