Senior Director, Data Science

Location: Bentonville, AR

Walmart Operations Finance (E2E) is seeking a strategic and operationally savvy leader to join our team.   As Senior Director, Data Science you will lead a high-performance team that partners across the organization to deliver actionable insights and influence both current and future performance.   The role requires the perfect combination of data science acumen and a strategic mindset.  Additionally, the ability to understand business trends, foresee financial opportunities and risks, and effectively influence business results is an important part of the everyday.

Leading Data Science Capability – Lead a small team of data scientists focused on identifying and analyzing opportunities to drive value and rapidly prototyping solutions to deliver insights, efficiency, and value across operations teams. 

Financial Decision Making – Deliver high-quality, financial decision support to the organization; collaborate with leadership to plan and analyze business performance by identifying gaps between business goals/objectives & identifying areas of growth opportunity.

Cross Functional Partnership – Work cross functionally, bringing teams together through indirect influence.  Develop and leverage internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals.  Work collaboratively with Walmart Centroid team (US strategy and data) to align business strategic goals and financial operating plans.

Project and Business Management – Actively manage prioritization of solutions to speed delivery and maximize value.  Present feedback to leadership regarding risks associated with financial projects and providing insight on relevant historical trends, expected future events, and market trends.

Communications and Presentations – Provides strategic input for business decisions by overseeing development of financial analysis/modeling, incorporating assumptions, expectations, and known risks; preparing presentations and other supporting materials to make recommendations and influence business decisions through data and insights.

Talent and Leadership – Recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, on-going development and succession planning, and leveraging capabilities of new and existing talent.  Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices

What you’ll bring:

  • 10 to 15+ years of data analytics or data science experience

  • Finance and finance related experience

  • Experience leading a team of data scientists with demonstrated ability to deliver value through data analytics and insights.

  • Strong ability to work cross functionally and influence leaders at all levels

Minimum Qualifications...

experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics,
Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years' experience in data analysis, data science,
statistics, or related field. Option 3: 8 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field.
3 years' supervisory experience.
