ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general direction, the Regional Marketing Manager leads the day-to-day management and mentoring of a marketing team in coordination with the Marketing Director and other Marketing Managers, as applicable. Develops and implements client-visibility-pursuit (C-V-P) initiatives across the entire Focus Forward business development (BD) lifecycle. Serves as a marketing subject matter expert for all aspects of the C-V-P lifecycle. Enhances marketing deliverables and programs.
Clients
- Participates in and/or facilitates strategy and BD meetings. Has thorough understanding of the Focus Forward Approach and strategic partnership of marketing in its success, supports revenue growth. Serves as trainer and mentor on the program.
- Partners with and supports the Marketing Director and technical partners in execution of Market and Client Focus Team strategies. Offers opinion and assignment of appropriate marketing staff to resource the teams.
- Supports Market & Business development efforts
- Uses marketing metrics to promote strategic decision making on marketing and BD efforts.
- Leads Client Mapping and SWOT analyses.
- Understands Opportunity Pipeline concept and intended goals and outcomes. Guides and/or directly manages the CRM Specialists in managing the pipeline. Reviews and understands monthly pipeline reports.
- May participate in and/or serve as the lead marketer on Go/No Go conversations.
- Guides marketing team in the development and creation of value proposition and pre-sell pieces.
- Facilitates proposal strategy and capture planning discussions. Guides teams (both technical and marketing) in formulating key messages (e.g., value proposition, differentiators, win themes). Ensures incorporation of differentiating content to create client-focused proposals.
Visibility
- Develops and executes visibility plans and tactics for pre-award through post-award efforts in collaboration with marketing leadership and staff as needed.
- Using the pipeline report, develops and plans for timely visibility around major pursuits and brand enhancement needs.
- Stays abreast of upcoming conference, exhibit, and other visibility events. Ensures appropriate marketing staffing and pre-event resources and prep in collaboration with marketing leadership and staff, as applicable.
- Guides Communications Specialists, providing information for the coordination and tracking of sponsorships and industry events.
- Offers recommendation on elevated conference participation and activities, connecting them to pursuit pre-positioning and prominence building goals (e.g., client contact plans and networking opportunities, panel presentations and moderation).
- Serves as final QA/QC on visibility deliverables at discretion of senior marketing management. Responsible for quality and timely delivery of visibility efforts of the regional marketing team.
Pursuits
- Manages the marketing team, including hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; coaching and motivating; and addressing problems.
- Schedules and prioritizes marketing workload/assignments. Leads marketing team coordination calls as needed.
- Ensures assignment of appropriately skilled marketing and design resources to align to the task and pursuit at hand. Leverages marketing leader input and support, as needed/applicable.
- Maintains a thorough working knowledge of short-and long-term pursuits, particularly strategic and super-strategic proposals. Provides guidance and thought leadership to pursuit champions (PCs).
- Facilitates kick-off meetings and strategy sessions. Partners with PCs and assigned marketer to ensure positioning activities are discussed and planned. Partners in development of strategy plan and implementation.
- Provides senior level QA/QC on proposals. Accountable for making sure proposals are compliant and differentiating, preferably serving as the internal marketing reviewer and/or assigns a marketing leader to fulfill role. Works to ensure proposal drafts are reviewed by the marketing team, preferably prior to it being released to technical team for comment (i.e., prior to pink and/or red team reviews).
- Ensures capture plan strategies and win themes are transferred and incorporated. Asks questions to facilitate discovery of how our clients perceive VHB and our competitors.
- Works with graphic design staff or management to ensure a strategic vision is identified and proposals are developed according to brand.
- Ensures timely and quality delivery of the marketing team’s proposal, interview, and other pursuit-related assignments.
- Manages continuity and resourcing of marketing team on client interviews. Serves as presentation coach as needed.
- Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
- Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of the AEC industry.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality.
- Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Persuasive writing techniques.
- Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.
- Experience storyboarding, messaging, and developing content.
- Exceptional editing skills.
- Ability to quickly and accurately edit and reformat documents while under time constraints.
- Ability to adapt to and communicate changes with ease.
- Understanding of the critical position to win questions that are discussed in Go/No Go conversations.
- Experience mentoring and leading/managing others (preferably a team of at least 3 or more).
- Experience implementing business development and sales programs.
- Involvement and certification in industry affiliations preferred (e.g., CPSM, APMP).

Minimum Qualifications
- 8-10 years of proposal, writing, or marketing experience in the AEC industry
- 2-3 years of current supervision of marketing and/or graphic design staff
- BA in Marketing, English, Communications, or related discipline
