JOB INTRODUCTION

The Structured Data Analytics (SDA) team tackles the challenge of structured data with experienced consulting and testifying experts, making large amounts of data easy to comprehend. Our team has extensive experience with the identification, acquisition, analysis, and production of structured data systems which are used to tell a narrative. 

The SDA team consists of a Managing Director who leads a team of 2 senior-level consultants. iDS is looking for a Managing Consultant with strong database experience, eager to contribute to the work through developing creative methods for analysis and reporting on data. This position allows for diversity in responsibility, a high level of professional development, and the opportunity to help strengthen the presence of the structured data team.

Core Functions

Player: Consultant 

  • Provide advisement and consulting services to clients that include best practices on datasets, strategy, etc. 
  • Data ingestion; load to SQL server from excel, csv, flat files, JSON and/or XML) SSDT/SSMS/other in-house tools or using custom SQL Scripting
  • Data profiling & visual inspection to validate ingested large data sets with raw files
  • Creation of tools to simplify processes of extracting, managing, organizing, securing, and integrating information and creating reports 
  • Take abstract ideas and create custom SQL queries and datasets
  • Develop complex methods for data inventory (file shares, AWS, databases, xIOT)
  • Data Exports and productions via flat files, CSVs, Excels etc.
  • Creation of visuals from data sets (histograms, pivot tables, pie/bar/line charts)
  • Mentoring of junior team members

Additional Responsibilities

  • Attend bi-monthly, quarterly, and annual company meetings 
  • May be asked to perform other duties not listed in this job description as required by business needs

Professional Qualifications

  • Education and/or coursework in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or similar field
  • At least 8 years of experience wrangling and manipulating big data projects; professional services experience a plus
  • Requires a thorough understanding of SQL to work with different DBMS Systems like SQL Server, Oracle, SQLLite and/or PostGres
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, VB.NET, Python a plus
  • Experience creating visuals from complex data sets
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and terms (normal curve, std., means) and enterprise-level architecture and infrastructure

  • Possess impeccable problem solving, reasoning and analytical skills with a solid understanding of core project management principles, particularly in providing litigation support services
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, effectively managing many details
  • Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact while maintaining appropriate assertiveness and persistence
  • Positive attitude with a desire and willingness to solve problems
  • The ability to seek out answers in the absence of formal direction
  • Flexibility regarding work schedule to meet position needs outside of regular business hours

 Working Location & Conditions

  • Remote, with the ability to travel when business needs require (estimated less than 15%)
  • Home office should be a quiet and professional space that can be used for virtual meetings (that include video as needed) and maintain client confidentiality.
