Responsibilities






We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist/Data Analytics candidate to become part of Peraton’s Department of State (DoS) Diplomatic Security Cyber Mission (DSCM) program providing leading cyber and technology security experience to enable innovative, effective and secure business processes.

 

Location: located in Rosslyn, VA. Flexible for occasional telework – must be local to work location.

 

Peraton’s DSCM program encompasses technical, engineering, data analytics, cyber security, management, operational, logistical and administrative support to aid and advise DoS Cyber & Technology Security (CTS) Directorate.

 

This includes protecting a global cyber infrastructure comprising networks, systems, information, and mobile devices all while identifying and responding to cyber risks and threats. Those supporting Peraton’s DSCM program strive to leverage their expert knowledge and propose creative solutions to real-world cybersecurity challenges.

 

This role supports the Cyber Threat and Analysis Division (CTAD).


What you'll do:

  • Create, maintain, and refine data models and algorithms used across the Directorate.
  • Improve visibility and focus of large data sets to improve anomaly detection.
  • Identify new security monitoring use cases based on available data.
  • Implement and support user and threat behavior analytics.
  • Create cyber threat intelligence conclusions by using data science and analysis (e.g. outlier detection, gap analysis, normalization, machine learning, automated models, natural language processing, etc.) techniques.

Qualifications






Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in and a minimum of 9 years’ of relevant experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Possess one of the following certifications:
    • CASP+ CE; CRISC; CDP; CRISC; CISM; CISSP (or Associate); CEH; GCIH; GICSP
  • Demonstrated experience providing analytics solutions to detect anomalous activity.
  • Demonstrated work experience as a data scientist or analyst.
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Experience with Data Wrangling in Python.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • U.S. citizenship and an Active Secret security clearance to start, with the ability to obtain a final Top Secret security clearance. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • SEC+ certification.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Security or Data Analytics or related area.

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
